BLOCK PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP
SAT Aug 19th 11:00am to 1:00pm

In this two-hour workshop you’ll learn how to cut, ink, and print a relief block on paper. You’ll leave with a unique, retro-style folk festival poster personalized with your hand-cut block commemorating Summerfolk 48!  14+

Leah Springate is a printmaker and book designer now living in Owen Sound. She graduated with honors from the Ontario College of Art where she specialized in Printmaking and Book Arts. She now focuses on producing her own work as co-proprietor of Mammoth Hall Press, a private printmaking and design studio.

Paul Hunter is an artist now living in Owen Sound. He graduated with honors from the Ontario College of Art in Printmaking and Book Arts. He is co-proprietor of Mammoth Hall Press whose work has shown across Canada and Japan.

GLASS MOSAIC WORKSHOP
SAT Aug 19th 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Use your own design or ours to create two small coasters or one trivet.  You will learn how to nip and cut glass then position your tiles into the desired shapes for your unique custom art commemorating Summerfolk 48!  14+

Morag Budgeon graduated from the Jewellery and Metal program at Georgian College and immediately pursued a successful career fabricating and selling her original jewellery. Along with Alan McIntosh, Morag launched and continues to shape the Georgian Bay School of the Art and learn so many skills along the way!  Morag was a craft vendor at Summerfolk for over 20 years with her jewellery.

SALVAGED LATH BARN QUILT
SUN Aug 20th 11:00am to 1:00pm

Barn quilts have become a rural North American folk-art tradition.  Recreate a barn quilt in miniature using salvaged lath to reproduce a simple pattern commemorating Summerfolk 48. Participants will learn the basics of cutting, painting, and assembling a star. The skills acquired in the workshop can be used to continue your own exploration of this picturesque traditional style. 14+

Alan McIntosh has over 30 years of experience in metalwork. An Ontario College of Art graduate, Alan has spent his career in the craft and metalwork industry. Along with Morag Budgeon, Alan launched and continues to shape the Georgian Bay School of the Arts.  Alan was craft vendor regular at Summerfolk for over 20 years with Joriki Jewellery and Acme Anvil.

JEWELLERY, SILVER SAW-PIERCED PENDANT
SUN Aug 20th 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Saw piercing is a cutting technique commonly used in jewellery making. Simple and complex results can be achieved with this versatile process.  Following a quintessential Summerfolk image, students will cut, file and polish a silver pendant, commemorating Summerfolk 48.  Materials and leather thong are included, silver chain will be available for purchase. 14+
