Learn the Japanese technique of mending mindfully and beautifully!
2 WEDNESDAY EVENINGS – March 17 and 24th, 6pm to 9m
Boro, the Japanese technique of patching and mending the utilitarian textiles of everyday lives, now fascinates textile artists world wide. This class will incorporate techniques of boro to create a landscape sampler, exploring the making of new textile works from old or worn textiles. Bring your scraps of cloth (we will have lots here as well) to turn them into textile art that you can frame, sew onto a piece of clothing (jean jacket patch!) or just leave lying around for everyone to admire. The time spent together stitching is as much a treasure as your finished article.
