Punch Needle with Emily Foden and Marcelina Salazar
November 16 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm$80
WHEN: TUESDAY, November 16th, 6:00PM to 9:00PM
WHERE: The Georgian Bay Centre for the Arts, 938 2nd Avenue East, Owen Sound, ON
Punch needle is an incredibly simple, extremely versatile technique. You can make many useful and decorative objects for the home using your stash of leftover yarn from knitting and crocheting projects, thrifted yarns, or even cut up fabrics.
In this three-hour workshop you will be introduced to the basic skills and materials needed for you to venture forth confidently into the world of punch needle on your own. You will come out knowing how to punch needle as well as having basic notions of design and colour theory and a deeper understanding of useful fibres.
Emily Foden has a deep understanding of fibres, yarn construction, and application, while Marcelina Salazar is fascinated by deconstructing processes and explaining how things work. They met through their mutual love of yarn and have deepened their friendship through a shared passion for colour and textiles, which they will combine in this dynamic workshop.
The workshop includes: a punch needle set (yours to keep), monk’s cloth for one project, and a wide assortment of yarns to work with (from GB Arts’ extensive yarn stash). The aim is to complete the project during the workshop. Additional materials will be available for purchase.
